Arrows mark the characteristic tight junction membrane kisses. Scale bars, 100 nm. (B) Intracellular membranes, IM, of various shapes and sizes are located at the proximity of tight junction. Some intracellular membranes are located very close to the plasma membrane and appeared docked by dense materials to the tight junction. Cytoskeletal filament bundles, CF, and numerous dense particles, Dp, are associated with these intracellular membranes. Arrows mark the characteristic tight junction membrane kisses.
